Dr Hirantha is a leading dental surgeon in Sri Lanka, Known for his expertise in advanced dental implant procedures. A pioneer in the country, he performed the very first zygomatic implant cases in history of Sri Lanka. Dr Weragoda began his dental journey in 2004, entering the University of Peradeniya after completing his education at St. Joseph’s college in Colombo.
JOURNEY OF EXCELLENCE
Having earned his dental degree with upper second class honours , Dr Weragoda began his professional career with a strong foundation. Immediately following his degree, Dr Weragoda became a lecturer in the Department of Prosthetics at the Faculty of Dental sciences, University of Peradeniya, Where he worked for a year. Dr Weragoda pursued his passion for Craniomaxillofacial surgery, concentrating on this area of interest through extensive time in the theatre and wards. He closely collaborated with renowned surgeon, Dr Kumara Ekanayake, to discuss rare cases and gain a deeper understanding of oral surgery.
Following his academic start, he transitioned into private practice as a general practitioner in the heart of Colombo. He spent five years as a dental surgeon in private hospitals, providing comprehensive care, while also working alongside maxillofacial surgeons assisting with surgeries.
After establishing himself in Colombo, Dr Weragoda returned to his hometown of Wattala to establish his own private practice. This move marked a defining moment in his career, as he sought to usher in a new era of modern dentistry in Sri Lanka.
